A Halloween Visit

I forgot to post some cute pics of family visiting over Halloween weekend. We were surprised by Chelsea and Austin driving from BYU for the weekend. Ryan's cousin Luke was speaking at church that weekend about his mission and it happened to be Halloween so it was a good weekend to come down. We went to Aliso beach to carve pumpkins, and then carved more the night we got home. It's always fun to stay up late and hang out and Ollie was in heaven with his aunt and uncle to love. We love you Austin and Chelsea, thanks for visiting!

Pretty amazing

I was thinking a lot lately about how amazing it is to be a doula. Seriously, it really is for me, a total dream come true. I love meeting the new moms. I love seeing the home of the couple and how they've started this life together. I love hearing how they met.

I love seeing LOVE in action.

Being apart of the most exciting moments of their lives before they welcome a new one to the family is pretty priceless. Seriously, when I look back on those moments before Ollie or Amelie came, I remember this energetic hum almost, just waiting for this crazy, miraculous thing to happen. You want to relive it over and over again. And now that's exactly what I get to do.

But my favorite part is the Dad. I'm telling you I have to hold back the tears. I doubt that will ever go away. But the husband caring for his wife is the most wonderful thing to watch. It is love, dedication, commitment, basically all the things that are beautiful in life, all wrapped into one. I'm thinking you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his wife in labor. I have seen the very best so far. What an amazing thing to be apart of.

Halloween 2010

The fam at the ward Trunk or Treat. Mom-flapper girl Dad-batman Ollie- Spiderman Ami- LionI have to say, these two make a pretty cute couple. I got Ryan's outfit from the goodwill that day and then his head thing was a book cover we cut out. Gotta love that.
Ami wants to be a big kid so bad. She wanted to play this game and wouldn't take no for an answer. All the big kids were being so patient with her as she held up the line. She is hard to resist after all.
We borrowed Ollie's costume from my cousin Andrea and it was so perfect. The mask was hilarious cause half the time he couldn't see a thing but I think he actually felt like spiderman with it on. It was so funny to see all the little boys beat each other up with their various super hero costumes. I thought they were supposed to be on the same team.

If this costume looks familiar, it is. Ollie wore this for his 1st Halloween 3 years ago, at 6 1/2 months old. It was my first and probably last true homemade creation. You better believe it will get recycled. Let's also mention here than Ami is twice the age of Ollie when he wore this and it was big on her. Miniature this girl.
Darling Ollie boy, 3 years ago. I think we make awfully cute Lion cubs.
